About AE
It seems like a lifetime ago that Jason Meuller started AE - it was really just a casual webzine to go along with the Advanced Athletic Nutrition online retail store. While Advanced Athletic nutrition didn’t take off, the magazine certainly did and went on to quickly eclipse its parent site. Jason didn’t waste time; he made AE the focus of his efforts. Certainly, the earliest incarnation of the magazine was a labor of love - entirely written and produced by Jason. However, the magazine was a giant burden for Jason to bear alone - after about 6 issues, I, Grendel, joined the staff full time - as, essentially, the only other regular writer.
Shortly after, AE partnered with Syntrax Innovations and went to a weekly version of the magazine - the AE homepage was also redesigned (in what I consider to be the darkest moment of AE, the terrible robot introduction was added). This was an extremely grueling pace, but AE kept it up for as long as possible - it was also during this time that AE began a brief feud with Testerone.net and the ‘boys’ at T-Mag. Ultimately, Syntrax’s troubles with the FDA forced an end to our partnership. Eventually, AE decided it could not keep up with weekly issues of the magazine, because we were running out of ways to tell readers how to take clomid.
AE settled into a comfortable pace shortly after the decision to return to a monthly format. However, behinds the scenes, storm clouds were brewing. In October of 2002, a close friend of AE’s passed away. Shortly afterwards, Jason Meuller ran into serious legal problems that have still not been resolved. AE went into hibernation. Ultimately, in the spring of 2003, Jason Meuller decided to close down the magazine. Fortunately, MuscleTrainee, stepped up and purchased the floundering publication. Still, AE slumbered under the snow of promises. 2004 marks the reemergence of a veteran publication with a new editor.
