EXTREME Q&A
by Jason Meuller
LAST CHANCE TO GET IN ON 1-AD TESTING!!
I'm absolutely certain that many of you are breathing a sigh
of relief that we're actually going to start the testing of 1-AD!!
Both myself and Ergopharm would have liked to have wrapped up
the testing about 8 weeks ago. However, the unforeseen need to
reformulate the product from the dione to the diol version of
1-AD pushed back our timetable considerably.
As it now stands, all of the 1-AD available for purchase and
on shelves should now be the reformulated diol version. And as
anyone knowledgeable about prohormones knows, diols are always
more effective than diones due to the higher enzymatic conversion
that takes place. Since amazing results have been reported from
past 1-AD users, both Pat and I are expecting slightly better
results with the new reformulated version.
If you want to get in on the testing, you've only got about
7 days to get in on the action. The necessary requirements and
protocols of the test are posted in past issues of the Extreme
Q&A, and since I've already gone over them ad infinitum, I'm
not going to do so again as I'm already getting death threats
from fed up AE readers.
Those of you out there in Bodybuildingland should be well aware
that Anabolic Extreme is the ONLY place you'll ever see testing
of a supplement done in this fashion. Those of you who kept abreast
of our last test of an Ergopharm product (AndroSpray) are aware
that we posted the before pics BEFORE the test had started, and
agreed to post the after pics regardless of how they turned out
after the 4 weeks testing period. Kudos to Pat Arnold for having
the cojones to allow his product to be tested in this fashion,
as well as to the testers who were subjected to major scrutiny
both before and after the test.
This time around, we're going to give you even more behind
the scenes access. All of our testers will have their email addresses
posted (hopefully all with an anabolicextreme.com extension) so
you'll be able to query them the entire time their being tested.
Not only that, but I'm going to encourage them to post to the
TNT Forum with their weekly progress, so you'll be able to assess
first hand the true efficacy of 1-AD. Now, understand that these
are real people with real jobs and real responsibilities, so if
they're getting 20 emails a day, they probably won't be able to
respond to all of them. But, they'll do their best to keep everyone
as informed as possible every step of the way!!
I'm also happy to announce that although I've previously stated
that Ergopharm was the only company with the testicular fortitude
to subject their supplements to this kind of no-holds barred testing,
I was wrong. I've been talking to Derek Cornelius, owner of Syntrax
Innovations, and he's got some new products hopefully coming out
in the next few months (you never know EXACTLY when in this business)
that he wants to test in the same stringent fashion. Obviously,
this is the place to look for more info, and we'll definitely
inform you as soon as any new developments takes place.
For those of you that never got to see the results of the first
test of it's kind ANYWHERE in the bodybuilding world, we've posted
the results of the AndroSpray Challenge again this issue. It
still amazes me that a supplement could produce these kinds of
results in four weeks. Check it out.

WHATEVER HAPPENED TO GETWOOD?
Question: I was a regular customer of Getwood's powder operation
and was wondering what happened to him. I read on the board that
he was shut down due to sales of Viagra. Does this mean that
he is out of the powder business as well?
Answer: A reader emailed me an article from Pattaya, Thailand
shortly after Getwood disappeared off the scene. I wasn't sure
what had happened, and after reading the article, wasn't clear
if the individual in the piece was in fact Getwood. I recently
spoke with SBC and he confirmed that the article did in fact detail
Getwood's arrest.
For the record, Getwood is out of the powder business.
You can read about his bust here.
TO STAY LEAN OR NOT TO STAY LEAN?
Question: I'm a natural bodybuilder who is seriously considering
doing my first cycle here shortly. I've been known for being
able to maintain a ripped physique year-round, and was wondering
if I'll need to abandon this if I'm going to make the most of
my first mass cycle. I read your article, Extreme Eating for
Mass, and it made me think that I was going to have to put on
a lot of fat in order to gain a lot of muscle.
Answer: "Fat" is certainly a term that we as bodybuilders
define differently than the rest of the population. At 300 lbs
and 15% body fat, I considered myself to be fat. However, by
normal standards, I was anything but that.
If you look at pics of most top amateur and professional bodybuilders,
they all manage to stay relatively lean in the offseason. Although
for some this is due to the fact that they have to stay in fairly
decent shape year round for guest posings and appearances, most
simply do not blow up because they don't want to have to diet
away enormous amounts of fat when it comes time for a show. Generally
speaking, the longer you have to diet to get ready, the more muscle
you're going to lose in the process. As such, the wise competitive
bodybuilder knows that keeping his body fat in check not only
means less precontest misery, he'll also be bigger onstage.
Here's a little known fact that most magazines won't talk about,
because it deals with drug abuse. Many of these guys simply cannot
get fat because of the ENORMOUS amounts of drugs they're taking.
Try to get fat on 18 IU's of GH a day. It won't happen. I don't
care if you rent a room over a Kentucky Fried Chicken, and run
up a bill that would make a third-world country shudder, you're
going to stay relatively lean. Now, this isn't the healthiest
practice in the world, but competitive bodybuilding isn't really
about health is it?
Take a look at Ronnie Coleman for example. Now, Ronnie blows
up in the offseason to more than 300 lbs on a 5'11" frame.
While at 300 lbs, Ronnie still has a six-pack, and veins running
through his chest. I'd estimate his body fat doesn't get higher
than 10% and even that may be pushing it. Now, I don't claim
to know what Ronnie eats for every meal in the offseason, but
I've been around him enough times to know that he's not subsisting
on chicken and rice. In the 4-5 times I've been around him offseason,
he's pounding fast food like a methamphetamine addict on Periactin.
Now, as most of you know, Ronnie Coleman is natural, given
that he's a police officer. Furthermore, it says it right above
the door of MetroFlex gym in Texas where he trains, Ronnie Coleman,
Natural Mr. Olympia. So, obviously Ronnie, who never gets above
.42% body fat according to his interview with Jay Leno on the
tonight show, is a genetic freak. Is the sarcasm seeping through
yet or should I hit you over the head with the sarcastic brick?
My point is that Ronnie, and scores of other top bodybuilders
like him, can pretty much eat whatever the hell they want and
not get fat. For the rest of us that can't or won't take 4 grams
of steroids a week stacked with 18 IU's of GH/day, we're probably
going to add some fat when bulking. However, how much fat you
add is largely dependent on the one most important factor in bodybuilding:
genetics.
Chances are, if you've been able to maintain a ripped physique
year round, you're not going to gain a great deal of fat while
bulking. A few lucky bodybuilders seem to be just naturally lean,
and when they make gains, it seems to be comprised entirely of
LBM. I hate bodybuilders like this!
My advice is simple. If it's your desire to compete again
relatively soon after using steroids for the first time, eat as
cleanly as possible while gorging yourself on food. I have two
plans for a bulking bodybuilder, both involving eating as much
food as possible over seven meals a day. In one scenario, the
aspiring bodybuilder competes on a regular basis, so his bulking
cycles consist of enormous amounts of clean food. Lot's of quality
proteins, food combining at every meal, things like 8 oz of steak,
8 oz of chicken, with a large potato. Or, if the bodybuilder
in question wants to bulk for a year or so before competing, I
have him eat in the same fashion, but with a much higher fat and
sugar content. Rather than eating 7 clean meals a day, he may
eat 3 clean meals, 2 fast food meals, and 2 weight gain shakes,
which are usually nothing more than a protein drink with an enormous
amount of sugar.
Now, as I stated in Extreme Eating for Mass, this advice goes
against everything you've ever read previously in any bodybuilding
publication. However, since the biggest barrier for most when
it comes to gaining mass is that they simply can't eat enough
calories, it only makes sense that you need to focus on eating
foods that are extremely calorically dense. This means a lot
of fat, and a lot of sugar. Note that when I say sugar I'm not
implying you should crack open a bag of sucrose and dig in, but
drinking any weight gain shake on the market is virtually the
same thing. The bottom line is that at the end of a mass cycle,
especially your first few, you should be adding enormous amounts
of muscle. If you can afford to add a bit of fat in the process
to ensure that you're maximizing your gains, do so.
Extreme Q&A is a weekly column that allows me to address
the questions and comments submitted by you, the readers of Anabolic
Extreme. Because I get literally hundreds of emails per week,
I can't guarantee a personal response to each and every question.
However, I do try to answer as many as possible and the best of
these appear weekly in the Extreme Q&A. To send me a question
or comment, please email me at Jason@anabolicextreme.com.
