AE PROFILE: THE BLOND MYTH
by The Blonde Myth

[Editors Note: Many of you are familiar with the names of the moderators on the AE discussion boards, The Extreme Forum and TNT Forum.  The moderators spend their time keeping the boards running smoothly, interjecting thoughts and ideas, and most of all, helping the other board members with any question or concern they might have.  Since our moderators have done such a great job, I thought it was time to give them a moment in the spotlight, so to speak, and perhaps give you a better idea of how they became so damn smart and knowledgeable.  This week’s profile is of our resident natural bodybuilding guru and President of VCBA (Vertically Challenged Bodybuilders of America), The Blond Myth

Personal Questions

Board Name--The Blond Myth.

Height-- 5'4.

Weight In Season-- 175-180 lbs.

Weight Off Season-- 190-200 lbs.

Marital Status-- Single but unavailable.

Goals in Life-- To eventually own my own gym and be successful at it. If not, I’ll work at MMX2's. To turn pro before I turn 30. My goal after my first "supplementation" is 230 lbs at 10% bf or below which leads me into this years Mr. O.

Hobbies Outside Of The Gym-- Trying to handle and find different outlets for my aggression. Working on my writing skills. Watching wrestling, OZ, and Law and Order SVU. Oh yeah, and monitoring AE.

Bodybuilding Questions

Years Bodybuilding-- Seriously since May of 1999

Reason For Getting Into Bodybuilding-- I came home on Christmas break of 1997 and my friends brother Jay (Not Meuller) asked me if I wanted to workout with him for the month I was home. I said ok and was introduced to one of the worst splits and lifting programs designed. It worked for him but not for me. We were two different body types with two different goals. I was concerned with losing fat while he was only concerned about keeping his abs and being GQ-esque. Not only that, he got me on supplements right away, from creatine to ZMA and everything in between. The one good part was the emphasis on protein. I did his program for about 8 months when I fell off the bodybuilding boat. Bad choices left me with no job, shitty school work, and shitty friends. I also parted ways with my best friend and training partner at the time, John. I was depressed for the latter part of 1998 into 1999. I got fat and didn’t lift. If I did, it would be a Monday and I was full of "I’ll start seriously next week" and other similar excuses. In May of 1999 I reconciled with my best friend and lifting partner, and I’ve been lifting seriously since.

Goal(s) In Bodybuilding-- To turn pro before I'm 30 years old and be able to call it a legitimate "career."

Role Model When Growing Up-- I always looked to wrestlers as role models when growing up. Guys like Sting, Nikita Koloff and other wrestlers were my heroes. Remember I didn’t get into bodybuilding until 1997 when I was already 18 years old. When I did read about other bodybuilders, Lee Priest quickly became one of them but not by my own doing. Jay (Not Meuller) who started me in bodybuilding called me Lee Priest because of the height similarities, stockiness, and at the time my blond hairlights. So I quickly identified with him. When I wrestled in High School though, my coach had an awesome drug free physique which was incredible. I guess you could say he was a role model as far as what to look like. Not to mention he was a strong motherfucker.

Whose Physique(s) You Admire-- Lee Priest and Shawn Ray. Both of them have kept their bodies looking great without giving into the "mass at all costs" size game, bloated guts, and so on. I’ll never be as tall as Ronnie or Markus, so I can’t identify with their bodies. They are freaky no doubt, but that’s not my style.

Have You Ever Competed in Powerlifting/Bodybuilding? Results?-- No, pondering one this June.

If You Could Change One Thing In Your Past, What Would It be?-- Sticking to bodybuilding in that depression span.

Training Questions

Personal Bests-- The last time I did a max "rep" was Dec 1997. I don’t believe in max reps because generally when people ask "What do you bench", their response is their max, not what they normally bench. My bests have been 315 for 5 on bench in 98, 1100 for 7 on Leg Press. Shrugs 495 for 6. Those last two have happened within the last 2 months during dieting. I have set lifting bests in nearly every exercise I do.

Who Influenced Your Way Of Training-- At first, Jay(Not Meuller) since he got me into bodybuilding. But as I found out how my body worked, it had to be Lee Priests style of training. I found I work well with above average number of sets.

Where Do You Train-- Right now at some club that’s more interested in a family type atmosphere and recreational shit like racquetball, tennis and pool yoga. Needless my partner(s) and I don’t fit in. Come May we will be moving to our original gym which is more suited to bodybuilers. The only problem is their DB's only go up to 100 and their Hammer Strength (HS) machines don’t hold as much weight as other HS machines we've seen.

Funniest Things You've Seen Training-- Seeing the kids who juice and think they're the shit, only to come off and lose everything. I love seeing that. As for lifting, it has to be the guys who turn a tricep pushdown into a lat pulldown which somehow turns into a calf raise by the time they're done with it.

What Do You Think About When you Train? If Anything at all-- I used to think about the worst things in the world: rape, murder, etc... But now my mindset is posing on stage, being in bodybuilding videos, and thinking I'm being filmed every set. Its weird but that works a lot better. I am more interested in laughing and having fun when I lift then having to be serious 24-7 like I usually am.

AE/Anabolic Questions

How Did You Find Anabolic Extreme-- I was talking to MDN via mIRC one day and he asked me if I heard of AnabolicExtreme and told me to go there. At the time Issue number 2 was just released.

Years On AE-- 1.5 years give or take.

AS Experience (years)-- None.

How many cycles a year do you do?--Haven’t done any.

What was you last cycle and what did you use ......no vol needed-- 10cc's of nothing stacked with 100 tabs of zilch.

What's been your most favorite topic on AE-- The Lee Priest ones always get me going as well as the recent "What to do to make the site better" type threads.

Questions you hate-- There are way too many to remember. The ones that annoy me are the ones that are addressed within the past few days or have been written about in the e-zine, yet people don’t even bother looking and start a brand new thread about them. I just can’t wait till spring and summer come and the DNP/T3/Diet questions roll in. That’s where my upcoming dieting article will come in.

Pet Peeves-- People who can’t seem to post in the TNT forum when it’s obvious it belongs there. It’s not hard to do. And people who don’t research.

Relationship to the owner Jay Mueller-- He wanted me to do some video with him, I believe it was called "When Jay Goes Gay" but I declined. Since then we've been friends, of course this is when he returns my emails and stops asking me for phone sex.

FINAL QUESTION:

What's one piece of advice you would give to a newbie on training, nutrition, or gear? Research. Research training, research nutrition and then research gear. Training and Nutrition are the most important things in bodybuilding, gear is only a supplement to that.
