Rumors, Rumors…Dawgs Be Barking!
by Manhatten Canine

Question:  Manhatten, I’m pissed.  And that’s pissed off.  I’ve always said that being pissed off is better than being pissed on but the worst is when you are pissed off because you’ve been pissed on.  I really wanna know the lowdown on this cholesterol thing.  I read some information on this website concerning cholesterol and how bad it is for you.  I knew this already.  Hey, I mean everybody knows this, right?  What I don’t understand is how Biotest can claim that the type of cholesterol in their Methoxy 7 is actually good for you.  This never made sense to me dude so I called them on the phone and sure enough some sophomoric guy on the other line tried to tell me that cholesterol is really good for you.  He went on to say that it would make me strong and cause me to produce tons of testosterone.  I just listened and then hung up the phone.  Please tell me what you think is going on with this.  Some members of my family have high cholesterol and I don’t want to jeopardize my health.

Answer:  There’s not much more that I can tell than what has already been printed on this website.

Point Blank!  CHOLESTEROL IS SOME NASTY STUFF!  Stay away from it.

I hate it when supplement companies or the magazines that own them go around badmouthing other supplement companies’ products just to hurt them.  This is unethical and causes bad feelings.  One reason I like writing for AE is that they are not tied to any supplement company and are very unbiased.  This is unusual in this industry and Jason and AE have my total respect.  Hey, I could sit here and bash Biotest and Methoxy 7 but I am not going to.  I must tell you the truth though and I feel it is my duty to warn you of dangerous products.  Thus, I must tell you to stay away from Biotest’s Methoxy 7 as it is a poorly designed product that is ultimately harmful to your health.  This product has over 3 times the amount of cholesterol that a person would have to consume in his diet to cause increased cardiovascular problems.

Too bad!  Methoxyisoflavone, also called Methoxivone, is a good product.  There are many products on the market right now that contain this ingredient that are of good quality.  Make sure you look one that has a delivery system as Methoxyisoflavone has very low bioavailability.

It bewilders me how someone can take forty years of research conclusively showing that a product is dangerous and suddenly make it beneficial to your health.  It reminds me of Bill Clinton trying to redefine SEX.  You know, I know, everyone knows what sex is…except Bill Clinton.  He wants to redefine it and make sex what he wants it to be.  Exactly!  This is what’s happening here.  We have a Bill Clinton among us people.  Watch out!  This supplement company for their own purposes is touting something that everyone knows is harmful as something good.  It has done nothing but destroy their reputation.

Question:  You seem to know so much of what is going on in the industry.  I wonder if you could tell me if anyone has done independent testing on the tribulus products on the market.  I’m really sick and tired of being ripped off.  Nothing seems to work!

Answer:  I think everyone goes through what you’re going through.  This is how most supplement companies survive.  Someone new comes along and it takes them several years, a ton of money, and a horde of bottles of empty supplement that didn’t work to finally figure this out.

Look at ZMA!  This is a complete scam!  One thing that I know is that AE readers are intelligent.  We’re not talking about some Neanderthal here that believes everything he reads.  He thinks for himself and makes his own mind up about things.  This is what you MUST do people.  Now all of  you intelligent people think about this for a moment.  ZMA is zinc aspartate and magnesium aspartate.  That’s it!  The aspartate part does nothing and is no different than gluconate or citrate.  Now, all you have is zinc and magnesium.  It is amazing how in 2001 bodybuilders have this sudden realization that zinc and magnesium and some really cool anabolic substances.  Amazing!  Amazing!  If you take a multivitamin or multimineral then you are taking the same thing which is in ZMA plus a whole lot more.  This whole thing reminds me of when chromium was the best fatburner around or when boron was the next best anabolic.  Don’t waste your money.  Buy a good vitamin or mineral supplement and be happy.

Tribulus…Hmmm…you bet I have some information.  I did a little checking and I found  a place that did a lot of independent testing on various tribulus products.  The results might astound you.  As you can see, there just aren’t any good products on the market.  Notice Biotest’s Tribex 500.  They claim this to be the very best tribulus product but it only contains about 20mg of the active furostanolic saponins per capsule and it doesn’t even contain protodioscin.  You would have to take 25 of these capsules per day in order for it to work.  Not for me!  Look at Prolab’s product.  This one has less than 1mg per capsule in it.  You would have to take 500 capsules per day.  Again, not for me!

My advice is to look for a product that you can take at least 500mg of furostanolic saponins per day.  If the product doesn’t tell you how many furostanolic saponins are in it then chances are it doesn’t have many.

Question:   I need your expertise here about what’s going on in the industry.  AE used to be such a small, simple website.  I always like it but it just wasn’t quite as professional as it should have been.  Then kaboom!  Something happened!  AE became the best looking website on the internet.  I now love your magazine and think it is definitely the best of the best.  I hate to say this but I used to read another bodybuilding website and really believed them to be the standard in the industry.  Well, it seems to me things have really changed.  You guys definitely have the best writers in the industry and I’ve heard you’re getting more.  This is the really interesting thing that I’ve noticed.  It seems like this other website is bigtime running scared of you now.  I would swear that all of their articles are now in response to what you right here.  You say that soy is good so they write an article to say its bad.  You say that they should be honorable and prove how big and strong they are so they print an article (without pictures mind you) trying to convince everyone that they even workout.  You say fructose is bad so they respond and say it is good.  I mean where’s the leadership.  You guys definitely have seemed to take the lead here and I have to admit that I couldn’t be happier.  Jason seems like one hell of a guy.  He’s funny and best of all he’s not a sell out like the rest of the industry.  Go Anabolic Extreme!

Answer:  Well, you know what I’m gonna say.  Anabolic Extreme is the simply the best.  Hey, you won’t find a better and more honest magazine anywhere.  You’re also right that we are getting a ton of new writers.  Some of these guys are the best in the industry I can assure you.

I also believe that Anabolic Extreme is now taking the lead on the web.  We now receive over 10 million hits per month and the numbers keep rising.  Jason believes that if he remains honest and continually puts out an excellent publication then he will ultimately not need to sell out.  Doing the right thing always pays off in the long run!  It’s fun being the leader but it’s also lonely.  Competitors will do anything to knock you off the throne.  I think this is what you are seeing here.  We’ve got the competition running like a scared rabbit and they know it.  They come here every week to read AE.  This of course makes them nervous and they can’t wait to next week to respond to everything that we’ve been saying.  When you read it one AE you can bet that its good non-biased information.  Other sites will wreak with bias just to promote some new or old product that they are peddling on the street.

Just the other day, someone sent me an email with an excerpt from another website which talks about a postworkout drink that they are producing.  You would really have to be an idiot to believe what they were saying.  When is getting dizzy initiating anabolic processes?  When is hypoglycemia a good thing?  Anything to make a buck I guess!

Question:   I was surfing the net the other night and starting reading this article about how bad soy is for you.  The article went on to say that it increases estrogen in men.  Look man I don’t need bitch tits.  I know you can’t always believe what you read but I have to say the article was somewhat convincing.  The guy even quoted scientific references.  I like soy; I mix it with my milk.  It seems to have a bad rap among bodybuilders.  Protein is important but it is not worth my manlyhood.  What is the best source of protein and what is the low down on soy?

Answer:  Look bro there are a lot of supposed nutrition gurus out there bumping their gums and spreading a lot of horrible information.  These people have motivating factors and that is making their wallets fat.  These people totally corrupt the whole nutrition industry. Will you get BITCH TITS from soy?  Hell no brother!  Soy does contain the very weak estrogenic isoflavones genistein and diadzein.  These compounds are such weak estrogens that they act like Tamoxifen, the very popular antiestrogen bodybuilders use to prevent gyno.  In one study, monkeys were fed soy with these isoflavones and another group was fed soy with the isoflavones removed.  No differences were noted between the two groups on testosterone, DHEAS, sex hormone binding globulin (SHBG), testicular weight etc…  Soy has many positive properties to body builders as well as your average smuck.  It has been shown to lower cholesterol, which is of importance to body builder’s using anabolic steroids or any one stupid enough to use the cholesterol-loaded Methoxy 7.  It has also been shown to reduce the risk of heart disease and fight certain types of cancer.  Several studies suggest soy protein isolate has a positive effect on thyroid hormone output.  Does this mean you will get as shredded as Andres Munzer overnight?  No, but it may be a welcomed addition to include soy in your diet especially if you want to lean up a bit.

I can go on and on about the benefits of soy.  So let me keep dropping the facts brother. Soy has a perfect score of 1 in PDCAAS (Protein Digestibility Corrected Amino Acid Score), which relies on the actual needs of amino acids in humans.  It is right up there with egg whites and casein.  Soy ranks just behind egg whites and whey respectively in the very important BCAA’s and has more glutamine than any other protein.  Sound dope, doesn’t it?  Well before you go out and rush to buy a 25-pound bag of soy let me answer your last question dude.  The best source of protein is…there isn’t one.  The absolute best thing to do is to combine your proteins.  Using only whey or egg will just hold up the growth.  I use a mixture of soy, egg, whey and casein.  Not to be pumping myself up but if soy was all that bad I wouldn’t be 225 pounds of twisted steel and sex appeal.  Combine your proteins and grow like a mother!
