EXTREME ANABOLIC REVIEW
by Grendel

Ok, this issue I am going to deal with a growth hormone boosting products; catapres and I am also going to cover my favorite anti-estrogen, Arimidex. Finally I am going to cover a very interesting new home cleaning product, called 1,4 butendiol.
.

Clonidine Hydrochloride (Catapres)

Description: Clonidine is an oral and topical anti-hypertensive agent but is also used to treat cancer pain. This drug was synthesized in the early 1960s for use as a nasal decongestant but clonidine was found to produce hypotension, bradycardia, and sedation at remarkably low doses. Clonidine is used mainly in the treatment of hypertension, but has been used successfully in a variety of other conditions including opiate withdrawal, nicotine withdrawal, vascular headaches, diabetic diarrhea, glaucoma, ulcerative colitis, Gilles de la Tourette's syndrome, and symptoms associated with menopause. Clonidine is available as an oral preparation, a transdermal system, and an injection for epidural use. Clonidine has been used in the United States since FDA approval was given in 1974. The epidural injection (Duraclon®) was approved in early 1997. (taken from online drug reference but edited by author)

Pharmacokinetics: Clonidine is administered epidurally, orally and via transdermal patch. Clonidine is rapidly and completely absorbed following oral administration; bioavailability approaches 100%. Blood pressure begins to decrease within 30—60 minutes, with maximal hypotensive effects occurring in 2-4 hours. Therapeutic plasma concentrations of clonidine are attained 2—3 days after transdermal application. {taken from online drug reference)

Bodybuilding: Today this drug is prescribed to treat high blood pressure but is sometimes used to treat depression or other mood disorders. This drug has many uses for the bodybuilder. First, anabolic steroids (and the accompanying weight gain) can cause high blood pressure. Some drugs, like oxymethelone, are notorious for this side effect. In addition, when you start to weigh over 250 pounds, it is reasonable to assume your blood pressure will increase, even with a moderate cardiovascular training regime. While initially this increase in blood pressure may not be noticeable or unpleasant, it can quickly get out of hand. Jason Meuller can tell you all about the joys of high blood pressure from anabolic steroids and weight gain. So, using catapres would help lower your blood pressure.

A second property of catapres is that is a growth hormone booster. The literature claims that catapres can cause ridiculous increases in growth hormone levels. In practice, it does not seem that catapres has any noticeable anabolic or regenerative effect. This may be because high dosages of the drug (30mg per day) are hard to tolerate due to drowsiness.

I have experimented with Catapres, for 2 weeks, I took 20mg before bed. While I did sleep better, I found that I got extremely dizzy and almost a little “high”; certainly I was somewhat disorientated. After 2 weeks, I had not noticed much except a slight reduction in body-fat. However my blood pressure was ridiculously low, I forget the exact levels but suffice it to say that I was impressed with the anti-hypertensive effects of the drug.

My conclusion was that for a healthy male athlete, the growth-hormone increase from the drug was not significant. Therefore, while I would not consider this drug a replacement for GH I would recommend its use to combat steroid-induced high blood pressure.

Anastrozole (Arimidex)

Description: Anastrozole is a nonsteroidal aromatase inhibitor. Anastrozole is highly potent and specific for aromatase, and represents the fourth generation of aromatase inhibitors. Unlike aminoglutethimide (Cytadren), an early aromatase inhibitor, anastrozole does not inhibit adrenal steroid synthesis. Patients taking anastrozole, therefore, do not require glucocorticoid or mineralocorticoid replacement therapy. Anastrozole has a significant effect on suppression of serum estradiol levels, and it offers an alternative to tamoxifen in antagonizing estrogen. Anastrozole causes less weight gain than megestrol and may offer a survival advantage over megestrol in women with advanced breast carcinoma. Anastrolzole was FDA-approved for the treatment of advanced breast cancer in postmenopausal women whose disease has progressed during tamoxifen therapy in December 1995. In September 2000, the FDA approved anastrozole for the first-line treatment of postmenopausal women with advanced or metastatic breast cancer. (taken from online drug reference)

So what did this paragraph say? Arimidex is the shit! It stops the body converting testosterone into estrogen. Arimidex inhibits aromatase, which is an enzyme that is used in the final step of estrogen production. I do not want people to think that Cytradren is useless, on the contrary, its very good at suppressing cortisol and it is an inhibitor like Arimidex. However, long-term suppression of cortisol or too high dosages of Cytradren can be dangerous. I consider Arimidex to be like a super-nolvadex product (it’s entirely different really but you get what I am saying) while I consider Cytradren to be an entirely different type of drug.

Pharmacokinetics: Anastrozole is administered orally. Anastrozole is well absorbed and distributed throughout the systemic circulation (85% bioavailability). Maximum plasma concentrations occur within 2 hours. Pharmacokinetics are linear, even with repeated dosing. Plasma concentrations approach steady-state levels by about the seventh day of once-daily dosing. Hepatic metabolism accounts for approximately 85% of elimination of anastrozole. Within 72 hours, about 60% of a dose is excreted in the urine as metabolites and only 10% as unchanged drug. (taken from online drug reference)

Practically, the pharmacokinetics of Arimidex are very useful to bodybuilders. As the above paragraph states the drug has a very long period of action in the body, so, this means that for the bodybuilder daily dosages are not required.

Bodybuilders: First, it is not beneficial to have zero estrogen in your body. Therefore, if you took 1mg of Arimidex per day you would actually be doing a disserve to your bodybuilder purposes. Furthermore, using 1mg of Arimidex per day would be very expensive. However, the best dosing schedule is 1mg of Arimidex every 3 days or so. This controls estrogen very well, but permits your body to carry on its anabolic processes (that require estrogen too). Also, it’s much easier on the budget.

Arimidex is not a scheduled drug and a 90-day supply can be legally imported. Also, Animal sells Arimidex suspension for about 6 dollars per mg. When you consider that you are using 1mg every three days and that Arimidex makes nolvadex redundant the value of Arimidex becomes more clear.

Realistically, there is no need to use Arimidex unless you are using high dosages of testosterone or drugs that are prone to conversion into estrogen. Until you get to about 1 gram of testosterone per week, I think nolvadex and clomid will suffice. However, if you are very sensitive to estrogen side effects or are using an obscene amount of steroids then Arimidex is the drug for you.

Unlike nolvadex, do not wait to use Arimidex until symptoms appear. Begin Arimidex on the first day of your cycle or a few days before so that the drug can begin to have worked on the body before the steroid flood hits.

1,4 butendiol (Rejoov)

1,4 butendiol is a major breakthrough in home cleaning products; nothing gets my oven as clean as this remarkable product. However, I have a crazy friend who accidentally drank some of it and proceeded to have a wonderful time and slept like a baby. After observing this bizarre reaction I began to investigate the properties of 1,4 and what I found was truly amazing.

Can you believe that this household-cleaning product is a GHB analog? Doesn’t that seem amazing? It appears that it is mg for mg almost as effective as GHB. Now GHB is illegal because it’s a date rape drug and everyone who uses it is trying to get in some 16-year old girls pants. So God bless the DEA for stopping those demented GHB freaks whose pants are encrusted with semen from constant masturbation when they cannot find rape victims.

Now let’s imagine that GHB was not illegal and that 1,4 butendiol was GHB-like. I know, I know but suspend your disbelief. Apparently you should take 3ccs (1,4 is a liquid) of this product on an empty stomach and then add 1cc every 20 minutes until you feel the products effects. Apparently these effects are drowsiness, increased GH production, and a general feeling of euphoria.

Now, while GHB might cause these wonderful effects there are some drawbacks. GHB, and its brethren, are reported to be very habit-forming. I can see how this happens. I used GHB when it was legal and I must say, it’s pleasant and subtle.  You just feel great and you sleep so well at night. It is not long before you are using it every night then 2 per day and finally, every 2 hours. This is not uncommon, I think many of us out there know someone who had/has a problem with GHB.

How does this all relate back to 1,4 the oven cleaner? It doesn’t man, it doesn’t.

All right, next week I will finish my Castaway story. I encourage everyone to tune in next week to see the return of The Blonde Myth, the insanity of MMX2, and the brilliant plan of Grendel that gets them off the island. Does it involve the DEA tracking beacon implanted in Jason Meuller? Perhaps, dear readers, perhaps!
